XRT Ltd: PCX 50 - 90 Phase Contrast X-Ray Imaging System

PCX 50 - 90 : INTRODUCTION
PCX 50 - 90 is a unique X-Ray Imaging System capable of capturing and extracting both phase and absorption contrast to maximize image detail and resolution. 2D and 3D Micro-Tomography is combined with the ability to generate 3D Models and take virtual sections of a sample non-destructively.
PCX 50 - 90's flexible projection geometry allows the user full control of magnification; field of view (FOV) and phase signatures.
The system is uniquely optimized for phase and absorption contrast; providing superb quality imaging of even the most difficult low contrast samples.

PCX 50-90 is an "entry-level" Phase Contrast MicroCT System. While an entry level system, the PCX 50-90 incorporates many advanced features including Beam Filtering, Source Drift Correction and Vibration Isolation. XRT's VHR X-Ray Detectors provide extremely low noise imaging with excellent dark current and flat field correction.
Phase and Absorption Contrast phenomena play important functions in improving contrast for x-ray images with many types of samples. All PCX Systems are designed to capture and retrieve both Phase and Absorption Contrast data providing high contrast imaging in the broadest range of applications.
The Imaging Geometry produces images containing both Absorption and Phase Contrast components which, when combined allow faint objects of similar atomic number, and small features, not visible in conventional Micro CT systems to be imaged in superb detail.
PCX provides a detailed and precise insight into the internal (in-situ) arrangement of components; the thickness, integrity and registration of layered structures can reveal images of internal cracks, voids and delaminations without the need to cross section or otherwise de-process samples.
The PCX design is based on XRT's extensive patent portfolio in the acquisition and interpretation of X-Ray Phase Contrast Image Data.
WHAT IS PHASE CONTRAST?
X-Ray Phase Contrast arises from the refraction (bending) of x-rays as they interact with a sample. This provides contrast in low density materials as well as Edge Enhancements that highlight crack, voids and boundaries. This imagining mode is not possible using conventional absorption based x-ray imaging systems
